Hillsborough County Commissioners Ken Hagan and Sandra Murman joined Mark Thornton of Hillsborough County Parks and Recreation to open the Diego Duran Skateboard Plaza in Apollo Beach. Diego, in attendance with his mother, Sandy and father, Diego, Sr., was seriously injured by "celebratory" gunfire on New Year's Day 2012. The park was named in his honor symbolizing Hillsborough's County commitment to ensuring children have a safe place to play outside.
